Project Consulting
Digitizing Business Processes: USC Academic and Faculty Affairs is updating its digital document system, Laserfiche, and introducing Laserfiche Forms and Business Process — which facilitates transitions from paper to electronic forms. Organization Improvement Services was brought in to assist with the project, including:
- Facilitating meetings with the cross-functional team
- Prioritizing the academic lifecycle paper forms
- Assessing each academic unit’s pain points with the current business process
- Expediting development of optimal business processes of priority forms
Retreat Facilitation
Facilitating Team-Building: With significant recent growth, the USC Department of Family Medicine found that many of its staff and faculty needed to be better informed about the services offered by their new colleagues. To help build relationships and familiarity, the department chair called on Organization Improvement Services to plan and facilitate a team-building retreat. In collaboration with a planning committee, we saw the department through the entire process, including:
- Facilitating monthly planning meetings
- Devising a project schedule
- Defining objectives and desired outcomes
- Proposing event exercises to meet the objectives
- Assisting with venue and food selection
- Coordinating event details
- Providing support during the event
Project Consulting
Streamlining Agency Billing: More than 1,850 USC students have some or all of their tuition paid by public and private agencies, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, Boeing Aircraft and foreign governments. Managing the agency billing process requires careful attention to the distinct requirements of each entity, seamless connections throughout USC’s financial process, and effective communication with agencies and with students. OIS works with staff from multiple departments — including Student Financial Operations, Collections and the Cashier’s Office — to streamline this process by:
- Facilitating definition and documentation of current processes
- Identifying opportunities for improvement
- Prioritizing action items
