The mission of Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) is to oversee post award administration of sponsored research for the University.

In order to successfully achieve our duties, SPA abides by the 3 E's of Excellence.

  • Effectively manage awards for compliance with Federal, State, and Private agency fiscal and reporting guidelines, University policy and procedures, and with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ensure the payment of obligations and the collection of funds with an efficient cash management system.
  • Encourage and facilitate proper management of sponsored funds through training and development, streamlined financial systems, and high professional standards.

We are committed to uphold the highest standards of administration for sponsored research through a strong support based on ethical practices, fiscal compliance, and efficient services.





New Requisition Requirement for SPA Approval:

Beginning January 2018, any requisition in excess of $2,500 and opened within 30 days of the expiration date must have the completed Justification for Charge(s) Near End Date form attached in the “Internal Notes” section of the requisition. SPA will NOT approve the requisition without the form.



Upcoming Due Date for SPA Kuali JV eDocs:

  • For January 2018, submit by Friday, January 26, 2018 at 12PM (Noon).
  • For February 2018, submit by Friday, February 23, 2018 at 12PM (Noon).

Upcoming Due Date for SPA Kuali PET eDocs:

  • For January 2018, submit by Monday, January 29, 2018 at 12PM (Noon).
  • For February 2018, submit by Monday, February 26, 2018 at 12PM (Noon).
