Loan Cancellations

Various loan programs provide for partial or full cancellation of the remaining balances.
Each program is unique, and provisions of that program do not necessarily apply to other programs.
Applications and/or appropriate documentation must be provided for each type of cancellation.
No cancellations are given automatically.

Cancellation Provisions for All Other Loan Programs (other than Perkins)
Health Professions Student Loans, Loans for Disadvantaged Students, University Direct Student Loans, and other university-administered loans may be canceled for borrowers who meet one of the following conditions:
- Death of the borrower.
- Permanent and total disability of the borrower.
Conditions that existed at the time the student received the loan are generally excluded.
