Dornsife: David and Dana Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (a/k/a the College and LAS)

DR: Disaster Recovery

DV: Disbursement Voucher (Kuali module for check requests)

DVQE: Disbursement Voucher Quick Expense (Kuali module for reimbursement)

DVT / DVNT: Disbursement Voucher - Travel / Disbursement Voucher - Non-Travel. Obsolete terms; these two Kuali modules were later renamed: DVT is now DVQE, and DVNT is now simply DV.

EDW: Enterprise Data Warehouse

EFS: The EFS is an abbreviation for "Existing Financial System," a term used to refer to the university's legacy system, as compared to KFS, which is the Kuali Financial System.

EIS: Enterprise Information Systems (formerly known as Administrative Information Services, or AIS)

EM: Equipment Management (related to CAMS module in Kuali)

EMRE: USC eMarket Requisition

EOY: End of Year (a/k/a Year-End or YE)

EPI: Estimated Production Installation (i.e., estimated date for deployment of new or enhanced software functionality to the "live" Production system)

ESD: Enrollment Service Division

ESS: Employee Self-Service; refers to a basic set of self-service HR functions formerly managed in eTrac (such as benefits settings and payroll activity), which are now displayed in Workday for all USC employees

ETL: Extraction, Transformation, Loading (a process of reading, reformatting, and transferring data from one data source to another)

FAMIS: Facilities Administrative Management Information System

FASL: Financial Accounting Sub Ledger

FBS: Financial and Business Services

FCRM: Faculty Career Records Management

FERPA: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974

FISL: Financial Investment Sub Ledger

FMS: Facilities Management Services

FSMS: Faculty Salary Management System

GDS: Global Directory Service

GJV: General Journal Voucher

IAM: Identitiy and Access Management program

IB: Internal Billing

ICT: Institute for Creative Technologies (a/k/a Center for Creative Technology)

ISI: Information Sciences Institute

ITIL: Information Technology Infrastructure Library; an integrated, process-based, "best practices" framework for managing IT services. Often used in conjunction with the ServiceNow system at USC, an ITIL provides guidance for creating and operating a service desk that provides efficient communication between the user community and the IT provider.)

ITS: Information Technology Services

iVIP: a program providing an efficient, secure process for university departments to sponsor individuals (VIPs) who are not regular USC students, faculty, or staff for inclusion in USC's Global Directory Service. As a result, these VIPs can be given access as needed to a variety of electronically provided or managed services.

JV: Journal Voucher (a/k/a General Journal Voucher)

Keck: Keck School of Medicine (a/k/a KSOM)

KEW: Kuali Enterprise Workflow (a Kuali-based system for routing and tracking non-financial transaction requests)

KFS: Kuali Financial System

KIM: Kuali Identity Management

KSOM: Keck School of Medicine (a/k/a Keck)

LAS: old name for the College (a/k/a David and Dana Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences)

Leventhal: Leventhal School of Accounting

LMS: Learning Management System

Marshall: Marshall School of Business

MFS: Monthly Financial Statement

Norris: Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center or Norris Cancer Hospital (both part of Keck School of Medicine of USC on the Health Sciences campus)

OBP: Office of Budget and Planning

OLAP: On-Line Analytical Processing (enables users to analyze information from multiple database systems at one time)

Ostrow: Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry

OTiS: Online Timekeeping System

PDP: Pre-Disbursement Processor (pertains to DVs and DVQEs)

PI: Principal Investigator

PPD: USC Sol Price School of Public Policy (formerly known as School of Policy, Planning and Development, or SPPD)

PURAP (or PurAP): Purchasing/Accounts Payable (a module of the Kuali Financial System)

RA: Research Administrator

RAS: Research Administration System

Region Code: alternate term for the Home Department Code

RFA: Restricted Fund Accounting

Roski: USC Roski School of Art and Design (formerly known as Roski School of Fine Arts)

Rossier: Rossier School of Education

RWI: relationship with industry (related to COI disclosure)

SBO: Senior Business Officer

SCera: Southern California Electronic Research Administration (system for managing sponsored projects)

ServiceNow: ServiceNow is a "platform-as-a-service" provider of enterprise Service Management software, providing a framework for forms-based workflow application development. It is utilized by the University's ITS department as a service management tool for opening and tracking requests for customer support. (ITS launched ServiceNow in June 2015 as a replacement for the IssueTrak system.)

SMS: Space Management System

SPA: Sponsored Project Accounting

SPPD: School of Policy, Planning and Development (a/k/a PPD), old name for USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, or SPSPP)

SPSPP: USC Sol Price School of Public Policy (formerly known as School of Policy, Planning and Development, or SPPD)

SSO: single sign-on

SVP: Senior Vice President

TAB: Tuition Assistance Benefits

TARA: Total Access for Research Administration (includes Kuali Coeus)

TBO: The Budget Online

Thornton: Thornton School of Music

TSM: Total Supplier Management

UAM: User Access Management (pertains to the KEW User Access Request eDoc)

UAT: User Acceptance Training

UGB: University Gardens Building (3500 South Figueroa Street)
