The Department of Equipment Management provides the following services to the university community:

  • Oversees USC’s inventory of capital assets
    • Records and tracks all sponsor-owned and any capital equipment (defined as moveable equipment with an acquisition cost of $5,000 or more — including tax, freight, installation, accessories and extended warranties — and a useful life of more than one year)
    • Tags newly acquired, donated or government-funded or government-furnished equipment in the Capital Asset Management System
    • Manages the oversite of the biennial, university-wide physical inventory
    • Generates the university’s depreciation schedule
  • Provides guidance to departments, faculty and staff on equipment-related matters
  • Serves as a liaison with internal and external auditors
  • Submits equipment-related reports to sponsors and other entities
